Motor Sports: Results from SCORE Las Vegas Primm 300

In what may have been the closest finish ever in a desert race, Southern California’s Mike Julson and Bob Lofton edged Las Vegas’ Ed and Tim Herbst by just one second for the overall victory Saturday in the 7th Annual SCORE Las Vegas Primm 300.

Driving a Chevy V6-powered Jimco open-wheel desert race car, Julson, of Santee, and Lofton, of Westmorland, covered the 284-mile race in four hours and 44 minutes for an average speed of 60 miles per hour to beat a field of 114 starters for their overall victory. Racing four laps over a rugged 71-mile course, the pair won the unlimited Class 1 for the second time in this’ year’s Optima SCORE Desert Series and the first time in this race. The race had 76 official finishers.

In finishing second overall, the Herbst brothers won for the first time this season in the featured SCORE Trophy-Truck division and third time in this race in their Terrible Herbst Motorsports’ Ford F-150.

Round 5 of the six-race 2002 Optima SCORE Desert Series, America’s Foremost Desert Racing Series, was held in the desert north of Primm, Nev., 35 miles south of Las Vegas. Competing in 16 Pro and 2 Sportsman classes, the race was the final segment of the inaugural SCORE Triple Crown of Southern Nevada bonus program. Entries came from 12 U.S. states, Israel and Mexico.

“We had no flats, no problems, Mike Julson builds the best race cars in the world,” said Lofton, who drove the final two laps after Julson, the noted chassis-builder of Jimco race cars, who drove the first two laps. “If you want to win, go see Mike. We came here to chase down the SCORE Trophy-Trucks and we did it. Dust was an issue at times and the setting sun was later, but overall it was just an awesome day in the desert.”

Primarily because of safety concerns, SCORE split the race into two groups. Based on the type of vehicle, SCORE ran 10 classes starting Saturday morning and the truck classes and the unlimited Class 1 got the green flag late Saturday afternoon and ran until late Saturday night.

Finishing third overall and second in Class 1 was Las Vegas’ Danny Anderson, a two-time SCORE Class 10 point champion, who made his debut in the unlimited class, finishing in 4:49:15 in his Jimco-Toyota.

Las Vegas’ Rob MacCachren, last year’s SCORE Overall point champion, drove the second half of the race for John Marking, El Cajon, Calif., to finish four overall and third in Class 1 in 5:04:32.

Las Vegas’ Brian Collins and Brian Stewart, Long Beach, Calif., teamed up to drive the Collins Motorsports Chevy Silverado to second in SCORE Trophy-Truck and fifth overall with a time of 5:04:47.

In the Class 1 race, Julson and Lofton led every lap, running times of 1:12:09, 1:08:42, 1:11:43 and 1:11:26 for their four laps.

In the SCORE Trophy-Truck race, the Herbst brothers overcame some early troubles to earn their hard-fought victory. With Tim Herbst driving, they were third after Lap 1, second after Laps 2 and 3, before pulling away for the win.

Mark Post and Jerry Whelchel led Lap 1 in their Ford F-150, and fell back in Lap 2 as defending SCORE Trophy-Truck season point champions Dan Smith and David Ashley led after the second and third laps in their Enduro Racing Ford F-150.

Behind by four minutes and one second after the first two laps, Ed Herbst closed the game to one minute behind Smith and Ashley after three laps. Ed Herbst took the lead for good in the infield section of the start/finish spectator area behind Buffalo Bill’s Resort when Ashley missed a turn and put his Ford F-150 on its side. Ashley was down for over four minutes and eventually finished fourth in SCORE Trophy-Truck and 18th overall.

Justin LaCore, San Clemente, Calif., came from behind to win Class 10 in his Honda-powered Jimco. In winning his first SCORE race, LaCore beat a race-high field of 26 starters and finished ninth overall.

Rookie Alan Pflueger of Honolulu won his first SCORE racing, driving his Pflueger Racing Chevy Silverado to the win in the Protruck class.

In the closest winning margin of any class, second-generation desert racer Kash Vessels, 22 of Tucson, Ariz., won his third straight race of the season in Class 1-2/1600 in his VW-powered Chenowth. Vessels covered three laps (213 miles) in 4:39:25, just 10 seconds faster than the Jimco of Brian Ickler, Poway, Calif.

Arizona brothers Nick (Buckeye) and Larry Vanderwey (Litchfield Park) drove a GMC Sierra to victory in Class 8, picking up their second win of the SCORE season and first in this race.

Larry McCallum, Imperial, Calif., won Class 5 in his VW Baja Bug for the second straight SCORE race.

In Class 3, Donald Moss, Sacramento, Calif., won for the third time in a Ford Bronco in this year’s Optima SCORE Desert Series.

Other class winners included: Jason Jernigan, Imperial, Calif. (Class 7-Ford Ranger); Eric Hardin/Jared Hardin, Anaheim, Calif. (Class 7S-GMC Sonoma); Kory Halopoff, Orange, Calif (SCORE Lite-VW-powered Chenowth); Jason Lakin, El Cajon, Calif. (Class 5/1600-VW Baja Bug); Eric Fisher, Ensenada, Mexico, (Class 9-VW-powered Garibay Challenger) and John Griffin, Mission Viejo, Calif. (Stock Full-AM General Hummer).

The final race on this year’s six-race Optima SCORE Desert Series schedule is the 35th Annual Tecate SCORE Baja 1000, Nov. 20-23. The grandaddy of all desert racing will start in Ensenada, on the Pacific Ocean side of the Baja California in Mexico and finish in La Paz, on the Sea of Cortez side of the peninsula.

Title sponsors of the 7th Annual SCORE Las Vegas Primm 300 were the Las Vegas Events/Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority and Primm Valley Resorts.

Protect Your Blog From Hackers

There has been an outbreak of blog hack attacks recently. The main focus of the blog hack attacks is older versions of the free WordPress blogs that are less than the latest 2.5 version release. The hackers are inserting hundreds of spammy links that point to drug, credit card and gambling related sites into the header and footer files and then making them not visible when viewing your blog page with a simple CSS manipulation. Its rife, its rampid, its a really big problem and the majority of everyday bloggers don’t have a clue they have been hacked and infected with spammy links that will punish their site and any site that is affiliated via links inbound or outbound.

Beefing Up Blog Security

A few things you should do straight away is to upgrade your blog to the latest WordPress 2.5 release. For those that don’t have the patience to read through here’s a quick simplified guide:

Download and unzip WordPress 2.5
Back-up your Blog files onto your local drive
Turn off all plugins
Delete the wp-admin and the wp-includes folder on your server
Upload the new WordPress 2.5 wp-admin and wp-includes folder
Delete the index.php file in the wp-content folder and then upload the index.php file from the wp-contact folder in your 2.5 release
Delete all top level files except your wp-config file and replace with top level files from the 2.5 release – Remember don’t overwrite your wp-config file your database info is kept in here
That’s it your done! Just re-enable your plugins from earlier and your back up and running as per normal.

They Got IN Now What?

First step is to remove the inserted links : they normally go for the header and footer files. Next alert Google by logging into Google webmaster Tools (if you don’t have an account then create one it only takes 2 minutes) and click the link on the right hand side titled “Request reconsideration”. Explain in your statement that you have had your blog hacked and the links have now been removed and the site is clean. Back up your claim by detailing where the spammy links where residing in your code i.e. They start at line 200 or just under the body tag. It may seem obvious but you must consider you are presenting evidence to clear your site and your name. Finally, also add what prevention steps you have taken to help beefed-up security.

Watch who you link out too!

A hacked site will have some penalties against it : in Google’s eyes you’ll be what is termed as a bad neighborhood. I removed all outbound links during this time throughout the entire site so as not to hurt anyone else from my sites temporary penalty.

SEO – Blocking Search Engines From Pages

Contrary to popular belief, the search engine spiders sent out by the major search engines do not have to search everything on a site. You can actually technically keep a search engine spider away from a page by instructed it through a certain robots metatag or a file not to come near the page.

Webmasters can instruct spiders not to crawl certain files or directories through the standard robots.txt file in the root directory of the domain. Additionally, a page can be explicitly excluded from a search engine’s database by using a robots meta tag. If for some reason you do not want a search engine spider to crawl a page you do have the means to do so.

When a search engine visits a site, the robots.txt located in the root folder is the first file crawled. The robots.txt file is then parsed, and only pages not disallowed will be crawled. However this is not always fool proof. Search engine spiders have a habit of going away from a page and then coming back and looking at the page a second time later. As a search engine crawler may keep a cached copy of this file, it may on occasion crawl pages a webmaster does not wished crawled.

Pages that most webmasters prefer not be crawled include login specific pages such as shopping carts and user-specific content such as search results from internal searches. Other pages that you might not want crawled, depending on the content might be a guest book that you expect to be filled with spam or a feedback system that is not very flattering to you. It is also a good idea to instruct the spiders not to crawl a page with a lot of animation or flash on it as this can be mistakenly read by a spider as a malfunctioning site.

that every human being is different from the other in the same way every person
has its own choices for many things and specially when it comes to the
“home” (the place of peace). You want to make it look like the way
you desire to see it.

Choosing your style is actually
a very interesting job to do and surely a very important job too because you
cant leave your beautiful home on the remodeling service providers to think for
you. Though home remodeling service providers can be helpful but … come on
after all it’s your home and your place of peace!

To select the styles and themes
you have plenty of useful sources. The first one is internet. Yes the internet
sites can have plenty of pictures with several different styles and themes.
What is Google for? Terms like Home décor, Color themes for bedrooms, color
themes for kitchen etc can give you quite good results.

Apart from internet you can
visit the local libraries and take pictures (hey don’t take the pages
off!…lolz) from home decorating books and magazines. This will help you to
make a better selection.

Apart from this I will like to
give you an important tip to think. The tip is to have variations in colors and
themes if planning to remodel bathrooms, bedrooms, kitchenFeature Articles, basement etc. Do
you know why? Well this way you can apply your different but favorite color
themes in different parts of home according to the will of your family members.
Lets say if your lovely daughter wants to have pink color in her bedroom and
your dear wife loves sea green. So why not fulfill their wishes and make the
home more attractive??

So do think about this.

Variations include the 125×125 button ad, the 300×250 rectangle advertisement, the 120×600 skyscraper advertisement and the 728×90 leaderboard ad. This sort of advertising needs you to deal with the managing side of it yourself, whereas programs like Google AdSense are absolutely hands-off.

A Web Banner or Web advertisement is a fantastic inexpensive method of promotion on the World Wide Web. It’s intended to drive traffic to your internet site, by linking another web site to your internet site. For those individuals new to banner advertisements, let me give you a brief introduction to how they’ll work for you before I show you what your banner adverts must do and say to be successful.

This type of advert is built from an image( i.e. GIF, JPEG, or PNG ), JavaScript programme or multimedia object employing technologies such as Silverlight, Java, Shockwave or Flash. GIF and Flash however are the most common graphic formats.

Generally you’ll have to use Flash advertisements if you require the viewer to interact with the ad. As an example you could have seen advertisements that are like little arcade video games, or ask survey questions. I suggest you use GIF, and only use Flash if you can afford higher quality animation.

These pictures are sometimes placed on internet pages that have interesting content, such as a newspaper article or an opinion piece. They can even be run in e-mail newsletters!

Web banners function the same way as traditional ads are planned to function : notifying consumers of the service and presenting reasons explaining why the customer should select the product in question, though Web banners differ in the sense that the results for advert campaigns might be monitored realtime and may be focused closely to the viewer’s interests. This is done by utilizing copy on your adverts that appeal to your market, and by then placing your adverts on sites that your market frequents.

The Web banner is displayed when a webpage that references the banner is loaded into a Web browser. This event is often known as an “impression”. When the spectator clicks on the banner, the viewer is directed to the internet site advertised in the banner. This event is commonly known as a “click through.

Many sites will let you put your banner ad on them for a fixed monthly fee, or offer you a flat fee per 1 thousand impressions ( CPM ). You can also go through an advert management company who will monitor your banner ad rotation and bill you on a per impression base. These corporations will also monitor and restrict your daily budget.

Banner advertisements also present a potential business venture for your website. Once you have steady traffic you can suggest to post other web sites banner ads for a monthly fee or swap banner ad space on your internet site for space on somebody else’s site.

Earning Income from Home doing what You Love the Most

The bad news is that many people have the wrong idea when it comes to Earning Income From Home. People think of all the processes involved to get your business where it needs to be as hard work. They also think of all the learning and education required as strenuous and a chore. I’ve been marketing online since 1998 so that’s 11 years now. And I’ve met hundreds of people who make six figure incomes as well as dozens who pull down a million per year online or more.

These people are no different than you and me except for one thing. Earning Income From Home comes natural to them. But each of these people have two common characteristics. First they took the time to educate themselves and learned the proper skills to do this. Secondly they took massive action and implemented the necessary processes without complaining or worrying about when or if the money would finally show up in their bank accounts.

But not all of us need to make this much income to be happy. Most of us would be tickled to death with a few grand per month over and above what we already earn. In fact, a lot of us that work even love our primary jobs and careers and aren’t even looking to quit our jobs. We just want to learn more about Earning Income From Home so we can make that extra income stream to take the stress off of us. I know where you are coming from, been there and done that.

There are a few steps you can take right now that will make Earning Income From Home a whole lot easier. But there is work involved. In fact anyone that says you can make thousands of dollars from spill over or some pre-fabricated scheme is taking you down a dark road you just don’t wanna go down. You’ll end up wasting money but more importantly you’ll be wasting your time, and time is something you can never get back.

So the objective is to make Earning Income From Home fun and relatively easy. And the sooner you start the quicker you will get there. Think of it as riding your bicycle across the country. You have to get from Point A to Point B but there’s no time limit. You can take as many breaks as you want to along the way. The way I’m going about it is article writing and blogging. Here are some simple rules I follow.

1.) I chose a niche that I love writing about. You might be a flower specialist. If so there’s some great affiliate programs that sell flowers. Or you might love travel or you might be a former real estate broker or insurance agent. There are great affiliate programs in all of these fields to write about. Me personally I love writing about Internet Marketing and Network Marketing. And not just for the money because in the lowest depths of my soul I’m passionate about writing about these 2 subjects.

2.) Once you identify what you are passionate about you’ll want to setup a domain and blog around this subject. Make sure you install all the viral plugins and get a nice header graphic created for it. I use the Ultimate Blogging Theme by Carl Ocab. For Plugins I use All In One SEO, Top Commentators Widget, Akismet, CommentLuv, KeywordLuv, Google Analytics For WordPress, ILWP Simple Link Cloaker, Share This, Tweet This and the UBD Ad Block Plugin. These WordPress Plugins give me total control of my blog.

3.) I write 1-5 articles per day on Internet Marketing or MLM which are 500 words or more. Each article just targets one keyword no more. Of course your subject may be different, but this is what I love to write about. I post these articles on my blog with 1-2 photos representing what I want to write about which stay on my blog. Next I take this Blog post and turn it into an article.

I link to these blog posts in my anchor text with the sig file I make. Then I write a title and description for this article and submit it to all of the major article directories. Now some article directories won’t let you submit duplicate content and you need to respect their wishes. Take some extra time and write unique content for these article directories as it is well worth your time.

4.) Bookmark each of your Blog Posts with the major Social Bookmarking sites.

5.) Create a Screen Capture Video in Camtasia twice per month or so and randomly point the URL in the Video Description to a random blog post. Then submit this video to all of the major Video Sites. You can use Tube Mogul to do this for free although you’ll have to buy Camtasia for $300.00 which is a one time fee. If you do this google will think of your site as important since they are seeing different URL’s on your blog displayed on a bunch of other important video sites.

6.) This is the most important step but for some reason most people screw this step up royally. Get on a consistent content writing plan for your blog and stick with it. Install Google Analytics and start checking it after 50 or more blog posts. You’ll start seeing the traffic ramp up nicely by then. I find I get about 2 Unique Hits Per Day for each article or Blog Post I put up. My personal goal for my MLM Review Website is 3,000 Unique Visitors per day. So I know I’ll have to get about 1,500 articles out there before I can expect to achieve this goal.

7.) Believe in yourself. Don’t let others talk trash and bring you down. You owe it to yourself and your family to make your business a great success. You don’t need to look like a gigolo or be the JV King to do this. That’s the beauty of all of this. But you do need to stick with a consistent plan. You can have your articles ghost written and this investment would be worth every penny. But I recommend you write them yourself. You’ll take more pride in your accomplishments and you’ll learn more along the way.

Earning Income From Home isn’t rocket science, but it took me 11 years to figure out the secret. And I know from experience that 99.5% of the people out there won’t follow this plan. But if you do it could be a nice short 2-3 years until you receive our Internet Pension Check.

Four Security Tips to Keep your WordPress Blog from Being Hacked

Recently online forums have been flooded with tales of WordPress blogs being hacked and then banned by Google for spreading bad ware. To avoid these nightmares, follow the simple WordPress security tips in this article to keep your blog safe.

1.Update to the latest secure version

Every piece of software has its own problems and weaknesses. Be diligent about always updating to the most recent “known secure” version. In this instance, you will want version 2.3.3 of WordPress.

WordPress gives plugins and themes full access to your blog. Plug-ins need to be kept up-to-date. The latest 2.3 series of WordPress notifies you in the Admin Screen when the plugins that you currently have installed have released newer versions.

2.Any plugins that are not being used, should be removed or disabled

If you’re like most bloggers, you’ve installed and tried out several different themes on your blog. And you very likely have several plugins installed that you don’t use.

Each one of these installed themes and plugins, is a potential security hole. Constantly keeping the unused ones up-to-date is a waste of your time. Deactivate all plugins that you don’t need or use. And then remove the files for unused plugins and themes from the server.

The final step is among the most significant. Eliminate unnecessary installations. Remember that everything you’ve installed lands in standard locations. A hacker can simply search your site, and take advantage of known holes. It is irrelevant that you are not using the package.

3.You should only download and install code you trust

For the same reason that you don’t open email attachments from unknown sources, you also should not use software with your blog that is not trustworthy. Use the author’s site to download programs.

WordPress, themes, and plugins are released as Open Source. Open Source allows anyone to modify the code, even if they have malicious intent. Any person with malicious intent can put up bad ware for downloading to unsuspecting web surfers.

There is a penalty for being an early adopter! Allow other people to work through the holes and security issues before you attempt to use the package.

4.Watch out for JavaScript includes

A lot of web analytics services and advertising networks have a requirement that you add JavaScript to your blog, which frequently comes in the form of a JavaScript include. This gives the JavaScript authors an almost wholesale permission to change your web page. Essentially, you must trust your Web site’s security to the third-party service.

I would be unwilling to have JavaScript put on my web site by an entity I was not familiar with. I would be more receptive to legitimate, well-known ad network and web analytic providers such as Google AdSense and Google Analytics.

Another common problem occurs if you don’t have complete control over the type of ads appearing on your site. This is a particular problem with Google. You cannot afford to have your site ignored by Google, but if the ads on your site promote “undesirable” web sites, your site may be declared “undesirable” too.
