Yes, it CAN be done!
There are certain requirements to make it work:
You must have the Deluxe or Unlimited Linux Hosting Plan
You must add on a Dedicated IP address ($2.99 /mo.)
You must create a new blank database (remember the hostname – you cannot use “localhost” or your domain name in the setup – it must be the IP address)
You must install WordPressMU using the subdomain method.
and the last item and most critical:
You must add an A Record with * that points to the dedicated IP address.
This works for WPMU 2.7
